Triple A (High Achievers’) Programme

The Triple A (High Achievers’) Programme at Aquinas College, delivered by our team of Personal Development Tutors, provides comprehensive support and guidance to high-achieving students, preparing them for competitive applications to prestigious universities, degree apprenticeships, and employment providers. Put simply, we aim to provide the support that high achieving students would expect from an outstanding sixth form college. The programme aligns with the College Mission to be a Catholic college for the whole community. This means promoting the Cardinal Virtues (especially Prudence and Fortitude), providing an outstanding educational experience, delivering a broad curriculum that develops personal, spiritual, and academic growth, and enabling students to thrive and “Be More”. The Triple A (High Acheivers’) Programme supports the college’s overall aim to “deliver a broad and rich curriculum that develops the personal, spiritual and academic growth of all students so that ‘they may have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10)”.

We will…

  • Equip high achieving students with the necessary tools and knowledge to make competitive applications to prestigious universities, including Oxbridge, Russell Group, and Sutton 30 institutions, as well as highly sought-after degree apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

  • Support and co-ordinate the UCAS and university application process for HPA students.

  • Prepare students for interview utilising subject tutors, senior staff, governors, and local business leaders.

  • Offer a flexible and bespoke HPA Tutorial Programme that nuances the college’s 10:10 Personal Development sessions, adding aspects of particular benefit to high achievers.

  • Align with the college’s skills agenda to focus on skills development, research, and oracy, thus reflecting the college’s commitment to embedding employability and academic study skills.

  • Oversee the academic tracking of HPA students and monitor their progress towards high-grade achievement, consistent with the aim of insisting upon high academic standards.

  • Develop a rich programme of supercurricular opportunities for HPA students, including trips, university outreach events, competitions, and widening participation schemes, shared effectively via our Student Hub).

  • Offer access to our developing alumni network of ex-Aquinas students who are currently studying at top universities.
